The origin of the unofficial celebration is unknown, but some media outlets trace it as far back to 2011 when a K-LOVE radio station listener suggested that the day, March 16, should be “John 3:16 Day,” in honor of the biblical verse that affirms the hope we have because of Jesus. The well-known verse reads, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” ( NIV). It’s #John316Day! “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”įor more than a decade, March 16th (3/16) has been a day for many Christians to share with people around the world the good news declared in the Bible in John 3:16. I entrust my life into your hands, confident in your divine purpose.March 16 will be celebrated by sharing the love of God through the most famous verse in the Bible Thank you, Lord, for your infinite wisdom and unfathomable love. May this understanding bring me peace, and strengthen my faith in you. In my moments of doubt and fear, let me find comfort in knowing that you are God, my Creator, and that you hold the world, including my life, in your hands. You have a plan for my life that fits perfectly into your grand design. Remind me that I am but a small part of your great creation, and yet, you value and love me. Even in the midst of the storm, you are my refuge and strength. Help me to remember that you, who laid the foundation of the earth, are in control. Teach me to have faith, even when I don’t understand. Help me, O Lord, to trust in you and in your wisdom. I know that you see the bigger picture, that you have a plan and a purpose that I cannot always comprehend. Yet, your words remind me that your wisdom and your understanding are far greater than my own. I struggle to understand why certain things happen, and why pain and suffering exist. Lord, often I find myself questioning the circumstances of my life. As I reflect on verse today you spoke in Job 38:4, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand,” I am humbled by the magnitude of your knowledge and power, and I recognize my own limitations. And in this knowledge, let us find comfort and peace, for we are in the hands of the One who laid the foundations of the earth, the One who understands all.ĭear Lord, I come before you today with a heart full of gratitude for your grandeur, your might, and your wisdom. Let’s acknowledge that while we may not understand the purpose of our trials, God does. In our difficult moments, let’s strive to remember Job 38:4. He holds the entire world in His hands, including our individual lives. It calls us to recognize that our understanding is limited, but God’s is not. He laid the foundations of the earth long before we came into existence, and His plans stretch far beyond what we can fathom.Īs Christians, this verse for today encourages us to respond to life’s uncertainties and sufferings with humility, trust, and faith in God. But God, the Creator of the universe, has an eternal perspective. Our human perspective is finite and often constrained by our immediate circumstances. This bible verse reminds us this day to have faith in God’s infinite wisdom, even when we do not understand His ways or why we are experiencing suffering. The question underlines the point that God’s plan and purpose in creating and sustaining the universe are far beyond our comprehension. It teaches us to embrace our limited human understanding and to trust in God’s wisdom. “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?” This rhetorical question humbles us, calling us to remember that God’s wisdom and understanding far exceed our own. God’s question to Job in this verse serves as a reminder of His omniscience and omnipotence, while also highlighting our own human limitations. Job 38:4 is a turning point in the dialogue where God finally responds to Job’s lamentations and inquiries about his suffering. The Book of Job is a poetic dialogue that explores profound existential questions about suffering and the nature of God. In the midst of our daily lives, we often forget the enormity and grandeur of God’s creation and our own insignificance in the face of it.
